T-shirts
After needing to take a break from figuring out all the trial and errors I faced learning to silkscreen 2 color t-shirts..... my lovely wife stepped in and figured out the correct angle to hold the squeegie so the ink would not bleed, mixed the correct amount of retarder so ink would not clog in screen, designed a method for registering 2 color prints by printing on acetate then laying it back down on t-shirt with first color already applied so it will line up, used the red photo bulb so the emulsion would not harden like it did for me cause the guy at the silkscreen shop promised me regular soft light can be used when applying emulsion, set up the correct photo flood bulb, not the other 14 bulbs the internet talked me into using and screened 3 dozen shirts late last night while I was sleeping. She figured out the last hurdles so we can now make more T -shirts to send to the Basset Hound Ranch......and friends. Silk screening is such a pain in the ass but it sure looks good when your done or you have a smart wife like mine. I plan on silk screening a lot now.

Big Sur and Pacific Grove
Last weekend, my wife, our dog, and two good friends from England drove up to Big Sur and rented a house in Pacific Grove. It was really fun, except for when my dog, Bella, got sick in the car and whined most of the car trip up. I did't focus on exact likeness on these drawings. It's tough to capture her, especially the expression in the photos below. She has about ten different faces which always change.

seaside village
My wife's parents live in the north eastern part of England in Middlesbrough. On the coast line there are lots of little seaside villages that are really beautiful. The cottages are usualy around 400 hundred years old with old fishing boats and beautiful landscapes all around. Sometimes off in the distance you can see an extremely old castle in ruins. I would love to live in a little town like this. This would be the view from my studio window.

Ice cream
For the assignment this week in my Adobe Illustrator class we had to Live Trace something. Not much time this week so I went with an old design and added to it. I inked the girl by hand and then live traced her. The end result was kind of boring, I actually ended up liking the pencil sketch best, which is posted below. I will save the bad live trace version for class.

Disney stuff
I recently resigned from Disney after almost 9 years. I will now be working for Cartoon Network. I will basically be doing some comsumer product designs, style guides, different stylizations and treatments to promote shows and whatever comes my way. It sounds like it will be really fun. There is the bread and butter of the job but I am also looking forward to experiment with stuff. It was pretty sad my last day at Disney but I feel good about making a change. Below are some of my drawings.
